The practice

A small practice where the owner still does the fitting

Kurt Chappell opened this practice in 1986 and still runs it with his wife Autumn. It is locally owned, family run, and a woman owned business. In 1991 he worked with a physician on the development of the first invisible hearing aid, and he has taught on the Texas State Board of Exams for Hearing Aid Specialists.

Been to so many corporate America hearing aid places over the years and most of them are a sell sell places. This place is the best on every level. Professional, personal and so caring about every aspect and client. Don't go anywhere else if you need hearing aids and testing service. We recommend this place 150%.

I have been a customer of Chappell Hearing Care Center for 17 years and several sets of hearing aids. I always received professional care. The after purchase follow up for hearing test and readjustment of my hearing aids is a great part of their service.

Kurt Chappell and his assistant are both quite competent and have the needs of their clients uppermost in their goals. They come with my highest recommendations. You will find it hard to find others who are as customer oriented as they are.

Questions we get asked most

Some of it is. Conductive hearing loss, the kind caused by earwax buildup or an infection, can often be treated. Sensorineural hearing loss is generally permanent, but it can usually be managed well with hearing aids.

Low cost sound amplifiers raise the volume of everything at once. They lack the technology to separate speech from background noise, which is the part most people actually struggle with. A professionally fitted hearing aid gives you clarity and comfort, not just volume.

Tinnitus is a persistent ringing or buzzing in the ears with no external source. Hearing aids can help by masking that internal noise, and several of the models we fit include tinnitus masking features.

Research shows a correlation between untreated hearing loss and cognitive decline, including an increased risk of dementia and depression. That is a large part of why we encourage people not to put a hearing test off.

We suggest starting regular hearing tests at 55, or earlier if you are already noticing problems. After that, an annual evaluation is the sensible rhythm.
